Make this a summer to remember for your children! Once again, Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center has scheduled a wide range of summer performing arts camps for children of all ages.

Voted “Best of the Best” in summer camps by Dan’s Papers in 2015, these popular camps allow children to explore a variety of performing arts on the WHBPAC stage and to join their peers in learning theater techniques and acting skills in a fun, social environment. Every camp culminates with a final performance within each production.

Details of each camp follow:

Teen Theatre Troupe: July 6-August 15, Ages 12–17
Tuition: $700

Taught by Director of Arts Education, Julienne Penza-Boone and Drama Therapist Natalie Gmora for the last eight summers, this highly-acclaimed and wildly popular evening program meets three nights a week and culminates in the performance of a play at the end of the summer. Students learn audition techniques, scene study, improvisation, and character development in a fun, social environment!

Tuition: $450

Campers will rehearse The Jungle Book and perform in a full-scale production complete with costumes and sets – in just five days! When participants aren’t working on the show with Missoula Children’s Theatre directors, they’ll be learning from our highly-acclaimed WHBPAC Teaching Artists in classes covering theatre, music, improvisation, and movement. The camp experience is rounded by an ice cream social, pizza party, theme days, and cast party following the performance in our courtyard!

Camp Broadway: July 18–22, Ages 10–17

Quite simply – the ultimate Broadway boot camp. Designed for kids who can’t get enough of the Great White Way, this full day camp is run top to bottom by seasoned Broadway professionals, who make up the staff of a theatrical and musical directors and a choreographer. In one week, participants put on an abridged version of a hit Broadway musical – and on Wednesday, experience the magic of Broadway first-hand with a Hampton Jitney-chartered trip to the city for lunch, a Broadway show, and a Q&A with cast and crew. Last year, campers had a visit with Tony Award-winner Kelli O’Hara following a performance of The King and I at Lincoln Center!

Musical Theatre Camp: Alice in Wonderland, July 25–29, Ages 6–14
Tuition: $450

Tumble down the rabbit hole of theatre and develop a love and appreciation for all things musical theatre! In five days, with the help of dedicated Missoula Children’s Theatre Directors, campers will put on a full-scale production of Alice in Wonderland, complete with costumes and sets. When participants aren’t rehearsing, they’ll be taking classes in theatre, music, improvisation, and movement with our gifted WHBPAC Teaching Artists.  The week is rounded out by fun camp activities, including an ice cream social, pizza party, theme days, and cast party following the performance in our courtyard!

Tween Theatre Troupe: Olympic Village, August 1–5, Ages 9–11
Tuition: $450

Our fastest growing camp designed just for tweens! Campers audition on Monday, and everyone gets an equal part in a true ensemble play written just for them by WHBPAC Artistic Staff. Campers work with veteran Teaching Artists to develop their characters and hone acting technique before presenting an afternoon performance for family and friends. This year, we’re inspired by the Summer Olympics in Brazil – and our campers will be playing Olympians in a raucous and joyous comedy!
