The Blind Side
Film Club is hosted once a month at the WHBPAC. Our goals are to provide a safe place for potentially uncomfortable or tense discourse about diverse cultural or racial norms, as may be depicted in the films shown; to deconstruct stereotypes and question cinematic tropes; and to foster discussion about cinematography and the art of film making.
Discussion will take place after the film. We welcome passion and perspective; however, please remain respectful to fellow patrons. Harmful behaviors and language will not be tolerated, and engaging in abusive or hateful speech will result in your removal from the premises.
Tickets are free but reservations are required.
Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), a homeless black teen, has drifted in and out of the school system for years. Then Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) and her husband, Sean (Tim McGraw), take him in. The Tuohys eventually become Michael's legal guardians, transforming both his life and theirs. Michael's tremendous size and protective instincts make him a formidable force on the gridiron, and with help from his new family and devoted tutor, he realizes his potential as a student and football player.
