Volunteers are:
- Ushers
- Ticket scanners
- Bartenders
- Really fantastic
Our extraordinary team of volunteers is comprised of over 100 individuals: some are able to work a few times a month and some a few times a week. Together, they donate over 3,000 hours a year!
Training sessions run several times in the spring each year. New and returning volunteers will be required to sign up for and attend one of these sessions in order to volunteer at the WHBPAC. Please call Allison at 631.288.2350, ext 102 with any questions!
Training & Orientation:
In person trainings will take place in the spring for both the regular volunteer training and the additional bar training (Volunteers who wish to bartend should attend both the regular and the bar training)! All volunteers will need to attend one regular training session.
Expectations:
The WHBPAC expects volunteers to show up on time, ready to work. The dress code for volunteers is any combination of black and white, with closed toed shoes. Volunteers on duty should not wear sneakers, jeans, hats, or other prominent accessories. Men should wear shirts with collars.
Volunteers who are confirmed to a shift but find later they cannot make it are responsible for finding a substitute from the volunteer corps.
At WHBPAC events, volunteers are expected to put patrons’ experiences first and to be cheerful and helpful. They should be prepared to stand for periods of time if necessary and listen to staff instructions for the event. They should not leave before getting “The Wave” from the house manager or box office.
In return, volunteers can expect to build a community of like-minded individuals, to experience a variety of live events, to be invited to the annual Volunteer Holiday Potluck in December, and, if minimum hours are met, to be invited to the annual Volunteer Luncheon in September. Active volunteers are also able to show their current-year volunteer badge at the box office for a free ticket to our films.
For Potential Volunteers:
APPLY NOW for an account on our Volunteer Portal. Once you’ve attended a training session, you will be moved to the accepted volunteers and start receiving emails to sign up for events on a monthly basis. You will also be added to our Google Group, which allows our volunteers to email each other for substitutes.
For Current Volunteers:
LOG IN to the Volunteer Portal. From here, you can sign up for events under “Opportunities” and see what events you were confirmed to under “Schedules”. You will also be able to see any pertinent files that have been uploaded, like this year’s Volunteer Manual.
